I love the Just Cause franchise. When I played Just Cause 2, I gravitated to the amazing gameplay, and the awsom destruction. Just Cause 3 gave me more amazing gameplay, crisp graphics, great dlc that added on to the game, a♥♥♥♥♥♥ton of toys, and an environment that feels realistic. When Just Cause 4 was announced, I pressed the preorder button immediatly. But when I got the game, I was hella dissapointed.

You see, every game, the developers add a really cool gameplay mechanism that changes how we play the game. The problem is that the gameplay mechanism, is nothing more than a ♥♥♥♥ing gymmic! All we get is just a tornado and grapple hook options. Both dont really change the game.

The one good thing I can say about this game is that the environments and models are so good to look at, I deleted my hentai folder and replaced it with my screenshots of Just Cause 4. But thats the only good thing I can say about this game. Shame on you square enix. Avalanch, your ok, you just got a huge♥♥♥♥♥♥of feature creep up your developers♥♥♥♥♥. I never preorder games, let alone buy a gold edition of a game. Unfortunately, for my love of Just Cause series, I did what I never do. I preordered the gold edition. I stopped playing this game shortly after release, because it just doesn't feel like a Just Cause game. Destruction doesn't mean much and all the liberation mechanics are completely gone. After the first DLC came out, I decided to come back and finish the game and play the DLC. The DLC took me no more than 2 hours to finish and nothing really changed about Just Cause 4 in general. It still feels like a crappy offbrand. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless it's heavily discounted on sale. I regret preordering, let alone buying the gold edition.. I wouldn't care about the sub par graphics if the game was actually stable. The gameplay is actually quite fun but the game crashes every 5-10 mins making it almost impossible to play.. Just play Just Cause 3. This game felt like a downgrade from 3 so I had to get my money back.. The Quick Rendition:
Games Bad, missing a lot of components from previous version. Worse graphics. Worse Performance. Horrible Scripting.
Don't be deceived by sales. The game is worth 10 bucks at most. And even then you will find yourself disappointed. Especially if you have played a previous JC game

Longer Rendition:
JC2 Was amazing.
JC3 Was Decent, Had some hiccups, but over all was Good. Great Graphics, had everything JC2 had but a bit more.
JC4 Is really quite bad. Missing most things from previous JC games. And they added all these "Upgrades" that you will never be able to correctly utilize due to awful scripting and development.
-The "random" weather effects, are not random. They basically run in a loop, over the exact same places.
-Tons of bugs, that haven't been patched since day 1. Its as if they grabbed some random person that just graduated college, paid the person minimum wage to script the AI's. For instance, most ravines that bridges run over, if you go below them, a civilian helicopter will commit suicide by flying into the side of the ravine. Almost as if its script is to just fly at a certain height in comparison to your current position. If you stand there and wait for a moment after the explosion. The exact same helicopter model, will spawn, and do the same thing. Wait long enough, there will be a pile of helicopters sitting at the bottom of the ravine. These sort of bugs are in everything. Go to an airport and you will find Boeing Jets attempting 90 degree takeoffs!
- Did you just find a Super fast car? Well that too bad, because even though its fast, all the AI cars will maintain a similar speed as you!
- Did you like the explosions from JC3 or JC2? Well All of JC4's explosion are, half as realistic, last half as long, AND 50% of them are Identical to one another! Blowing up a gas station is similar to blowing up a moped!!
- Do you just want to mess with all the cool new mechanics that they added, to make cars, and random things blow up and fly? Well You can do that in JC4! Though you will have to imagine that all the laws of the universe have changed, and the fastest speed you can attain is about 90mph(don't be tricked by your speedometer its lying to u). There is also invisible forces that constantly prevent you from doing what you think you should be able to do. And most the time when you use your grapple on two different objects one of them is tethered to the ground like it just don't give a flying flip. Try tether two people together, and add the Jet upgrade to the tether. One would expect the both to go flailing around one another and possibly launch into the sky or a building. But no no no, One of the two people you tether becomes invulnerable to anything outside its script. This causes the second person tethered to flail around the first guy, like the the first guy is a pole.
- Did you love the trains and messing around with them in JC3? Well in JC4 when you finally find a railroad track, you will notice that the track is just painted to the ground. You then follow the track, and come to the great realization, that there are no trains.
- Now imagine everything you liked about JC2 or JC3. Divide it in half. And you have JC4!

MY conclusion. Buy JC3 or JC2. Physics are awful in JC4. Everything has the same top speed no matter what you do.

Edit: Apparently there are trains now. It took them 5 months to figure out they forgot to add them in.

EDIT2: The new AI is atrocious... Crap just spawns behind you now, where ever you are not looking stuff will just spawn out of no where and you will be getting shot in the back. I honestly don't even know why I started this game back up. I guess I had hope in a dying series. Hoping they would fix the issues. But still, physics are awful.

There should not be a difference between when you are accelerating and when you have a modded grapple (like the Jet grapple upgrade) applying force while attached to a vehicle like a plane. The Jet grapple has Zero effect on your plane or any vehicle if you are accelerating. the moment your aircraft stops, and then you use it to apply force, now all of a sudden physics are on.

This is definitely worst game of the year. The scripting is just awful. The physics are all over the place. And missions are simply not fun. Progression is not fun. And to progress your squads forward to progress across the map, you literally have take all the stuff that is not fun due awful/rushed development, and grind it out for an hr or two, before you can move your troops again.... Like common. This is not a AAA game. This is a cash grab.

If there is any sane Developer working on this game, they know full and well, the game should not have been released in the state that it was in, and what it currently is in.

All I know is that I'm definitely not buying another Just Cause game unless a different developer/publisher is working on it. That or they need to completely re-release a Remastered version of this game, give out for free to all those that bought into this. The remastered needs to address all the issues of underdeveloped content, scripting, and horrible physics and explosions. Before any credibility can be reattained.

Sorry, you guys took one right out of EA's book. That really wasn't a good idea.. I got this during a 60% off sale just after the Spring update. I've no idea what it was like at release.

For me, this is the most fun I've had with the series so far. It expands on the previous games and makes improvements while staying in the general theme.

From reading reviews, it looks like people are mostly angry about there not being any pistols in the game, and the changes to map takeover progression. I don't give a hoot about pistols or chaos objects whatsoever, so bear in mind I'm looking for different things from most people.

The main appeal of Just Cause for me is huge and detailed natural environments, varied NPC combat that uses lots of different vehicles, and use of the grappling hook to get around quickly. Just Cause 4 does really well on all those aspects, so for me this is a great game.

There are some embarrassing bugs at the moment, though, and things that seem a bit unfinished (oceans, waterfalls, nighttime almost never arrives on its own). You may want to wait until more bugfixes have been released.. Just like 1,2 & 3 this game is still epic. Had a lot of fun playing the latest version.. This game is a massive step back from previous games. It feels as if they decided that what would make the game better would be to remove most of what made the previous games good and keep all the bad. I won't bore you with repeating what everyone is is saying about the shameful graphics, textures, game-play, quests, etc.. It is basically all true even after all the patches.
Even the little things, like immersion, were completely disregarded in this games. For example, in JC3 in order to access the supply drop menu, skills, map, etc, Rico would pull out a tablet in-game to view these things. However, in JC4 they removed this and replaced it with what amounts to little more than a glorified options menu. This is just one of many decisions they made which completely ruin the immersion.
Sorry, but there is no just cause for buying this game.. This is probably not so much of a review but rather my overall opinion on the game:

I've been a fan of the franchise since Just Cause 2, it was simply AMAZING for it's time. When 3 was announced, I was seriously excited, and certainly not disappointed. Just Cause 3 was an absolute masterpiece of a game, funny dialog, amazing graphics and physics, controls that felt very natural, both on controller and keyboard&mouse. Both games had you in for at least 30-40 hours before finishing all the side content worth doing. And even then, the world was still fun to explore and destroy, fun to find easter eggs in.

And then we got to Just Cause 4. I was so excited when I first saw the trailers, I couldn't wait for it. Pre-loaded it and all. I got into it, granted with high expectations.. And I was very, very disappointed. I finished the game within 20 hours of gameplay, and after doing so, I didn't feel I had a reason to keep playing it, like the previous games in the franchise. Once you've finished the game you've basically seen it all. The game was incredibly easy, offering nearly no challenge (and go knows 2 could be a pain in the butt at times, and 3 offered a decent challenge). The only challenge I experienced in the game was it's clunky controls. The game had so many new features and gadgets to use, yet I've never felt so restricted as to what I could do in a Just Cause game before. Once the main story is over, you've basically destroyed the enemy forces fully, and there's nothing left to do. Sure, it was the same way in 3 once you took over all the territories, but taking them over took time and work, and was actually fun. Meanwhile, in 4, you open your map, send troops, and boom, it's instantly done. No challenge, no fun. Instant.

The game feels like they put a lot of effort into it, but then ran out of time, and rather than delaying it's release, they rushed to implement features they had different plans for, poorly. The world is very beautiful, yet there's not much to do. And the graphics, something Just Cause 3 blew us all away with, felt like a huge downgrade. The territory takeover system feels like it was thrown together as a last minute feature to implement, rather than what we've seen previously. There's no depth to it, no strategy, no challenge.

Overall, it feels like the game was severely rushed towards the end of it's development, and it's a huge shame that it came tainting the reputation of this amazing franchise. I only hope to see another Just Cause in the future that won't be rushed, but rather carefully thought out and planned like Just Cause 3 was. I don't think even DLC is going to redeem Just Cause 4.
